Celebrate: 10 Places to Hold Your Office Party in Philadelphia

Celebrate: 10 Places to Hold Your Office Party in Philadelphia

That festive time of year is approaching and office party plans are starting to form. Depending on your office, you might approach these gatherings with anticipation or dread — but either way, we've got you covered with a bar where you’re guaranteed good drinks and a great time. Check out 10 spots all over Philadelphia that cater to the love of beer, food, whiskey and fun.

Brauhaus Schmitz: This German beer hall on South Street debuted a Brauer Bund room earlier this year, which expanded their space significantly. The separate area is great for hosting larger parties. It comes equipped with 10 taps featuring some of the best German beers to be found in the region, which pair well with Chef Jeremy Nolen's new German cooking. Bonus: the staff is full of educational information on German cuisine and culture — who doesn’t want to learn more about German beer? (718 South St.; 267-909-8814)

Percy St BBQ: A few blocks up from Brauhaus you'll find good ol' American BBQ. This Cook + Solo spot specializes in Texas-style BBQ and has one of the largest beer can selections in the country. No need to worry about vegetarians in your group, chef Erin O’Shea has options for them, too. Featuring a private room for events that can seat large parties, the wide brew and whiskey selection and easy-eating food make Percy Street a no-brainer for hosting an event (900 South St.; 215-625-8510).

Pub & Kitchen: Over on Lombard Street, P&K has a great upstairs space equipped with its own bar and tap system for private events. If the people in your party are foodies, they're sure to appreciate chef Jonathan Adams' cuisine paired with some great craft beer and an excellent whiskey selection (1946 Lombard St.; 215-545-0350).

Tir Na Nog: You can’t go wrong with this Irish pub; the space is perfect for corporate parties. Several different private areas can accommodate almost any size party, plus you’ll find a great menu of bar snacks sure to be crowd pleasers (1600 Arch St.; 267-514-1700).

Alfa: In Center City, Alfa is a great choice for a more corporate crowd that enjoys traditional bar food, cocktails and wine along with some local beers. Happy hour specials are great and the adjoining Walnut Room can accommodate your party’s needs (1709 Walnut St.; 215-751-0201).

Square Peg: Nicely located in the middle of the Jefferson Hospital area, this spot also features late night Happy Hour hours from 9 PM—midnight., so if your party runs a bit late, stragglers can stay and enjoy. Plus, chef Matt Levin is always cooking up something interesting and tasty (929 Walnut St.; 215-413-3600).

McGillin’s Old Ale House: The oldest continuously operating tavern in Philadelphia is a destination for beer lovers from all over and makes for a nice casual spot to host an office outing. The second floor bar features 10 local craft beers on tap and is ideal for private events — there’s a karaoke set-up, a DJ booth and loads of YVs. Hosting large parties is one of the bar’s specialties (1310 Drury St.; 215-735-5562).

Frankford Hall: If you and your officemates really enjoy each other’s company then you’re sure to have a fun partaking in group oriented games at Stephen Starr's Fishtown biergarten. Alternately, you might just enjoy sipping a pint while roasting s'mores over an open fire pit. Go ahead, get intimate! (1210 Frankford Ave.; 215-634-3338)

Revolution House: This beautifully decorated restaurant in Old City features many odes to Benjamin Franklin throughout the decor. A large patio is equipped with heated lamps and has spectacular views of Penn's Landing and Christ's Church. The menu pays homage to American and Mediterranean cuisine, while the two bars feature a nice selection of domestic craft beers and assorted liquors (200 Market St.; 215-625-4566).

City Tap House: With a sweet array of fire pits, two terraces and one of the largest draft selections in the city (60 taps!), this spot is ideal for both large and small groups (3925 Walnt St.; 215-662-0105).
