Where to Celebrate Valentine's Day in Philadelphia
For Early Risers
Since Valentine’s Day is on a Saturday, why not kick off the love-filled day with brunch. Get to Cuba Libre for a Champagne Punch Brunch featuring pitchers of Champagne Punch and Mojito Royale, or try the special Valentine’s Day Cupid’s Punch (Guavaberry Island Folk liqueur with gold rum, almond syrup, lychee juice and orange juice).
For Happy Hour Hounds
This year, Oyster House is bringing back the ‘Shuck Buddy’ Happy Hour on Thursday, February 12, from 5–7 PM. Bring your ‘shuck buddy’ for a happy hour full of oysters, clams and Yards Love Stout. Get $1 oysters and clams, $3 oysters shooters, $5 cocktails and $3 drafts. Yards will be pouring four different versions of the famed Love Stout including original, vanilla, chocolate and coffee. Let’s get shuckin’!
For Wine and Chocolate Lovers
Join Drink Philly at Panorama on February 11, and kick off the Valentine’s weekend with a special wine and chocolate pairing. Six wines will be paired with six truffles from Shane’s Candies that were created exclusively for this event. More information and tickets are available here.
For Traditionalists
Nothing says Valentine’s Day better than a romantic candlelit dinner with your significant other. Set the mood with a four-course dinner at Varga Bar. For $55, you have the option to try Rhode Island oysters, red velvet cheesecake, or anything else you fancy on the menu, paired with a glass of vino or a beer.
For Those Whose One True Love is Beer
Switch it up this year and check out Frankford Hall’s “Valentine’s Day for the Man in Your Life.” Frankford Hall has teamed up with Bell’s Brewery to help you celebrate by tapping some love-themed beers, such as Bell’s flagship, Two-Hearted Ale, and spring seasonal, Smitten Golden Rye. Also on tap is the highly sought after Hopslam Ale and the Oarsman. Try adding a shot of one of Frankford Hall’s house-made syrups to one of your beers, “a romantic, German, beer drinking tradition.”
For The Anti-Valentine’s Crowd
Head to Bainbridge Street Barrel House starting Thursday, February 12, for a tap list that will make you forget all about couples, love and Cupid. Look for beers like Left Hand Stranger, Naked Freckles Angry Brown Ale, Thirsty Dog Old Leghumper and many more. Check out the full list of brews right here.
