Bars That Rock: The Essential Guide to Drinking and Rocking Out in Philadelphia |
Kung-Fu Necktie (1248 N. Front St.; 215-291-4919) 1/20
This spot under the El feels like it used to be a big ol’ house. It has two floors with distinctly different bars and music venues. Enter through separate entrances from the outside, but pass between the two through a curtain once inside. A full bar and the bigger of the two stages are downstairs. Upstairs, cans of beer are served over ashtrays at the four stool bar in a hallway-like space. Walk passed the smoke and head into the watching/listening room that abuts the one that serves as a small performance space.
