Manatawny Still Works Craft Distillery Coming Soon to Pottstown
It looks like the new year will give rise to Manatawny Still Works, a new craft distillation concern coming together in the Philly suburbs. It’s the first booze business of its kind to set up shop in Montgomery county since the sixties.
Though a completely separate operation, the distillery is an offshoot of Sly Fox Brewing Co. MSW’s headquarters and production facility are set up directly next door to the Pottstown-based brewery, Sly Fox backer John Giannopoulos is its founder, and former head brewer Max Pfeffer has moved over to assume the role of distiller. According to Town Dish, MSW spirits will begin hitting shelves as soon as February 2014.
The first spirits to roll off the line at MSW will be Virgin Whiskey, an unaged white whiskey, followed by Sedition, a light rum. It will be another two years before the new company’s signature product, Pennsylvania Whiskey, comes to market. Hopefully it will be worth the wait.
