Victory Over Prohibition! April 7th-9th

by Drink Philly on Mar 31, 2011 in Events

April 7th marks what we like to refer to as the “soft opening” of the repeal of Prohibition. It was on this day that FDR’s amendment to the Volstead Act (known as the Cullen-Harrison Act) became law, and manufacturers could legally produce and sell beer of 3.2% alcohol by weight.

While the repeal of Prohibition as a whole didn’t happen until December 5th of that year, Victory Brewing Company, Philadelphia Distilling, and Drink Philly thought it only right to invite you to celebrate America’s Victory Over Prohibition with us.

We’ve partnered with a pack of bars in Center City/Rittenhouse and Old City (more neighborhoods TBD), and will be setting up challenges through the free application SCVNGR.

Download SCVNGR to your smartphone, go have some drinks on the 7th, 8th, or 9th at the participating bars, complete some challenges, and win some free stuff. Each bar will be doing their own specials where applicable, so keep your eyes on our site for updates!

What better way is there to celebrate our Victory Over Prohibition without a little Victory Beer and Philadelphia Distilling goodness?
