Valley Forge Beer Fest, Dec 10
The producers of springtime’s always-sold-out Philadelphia Craft Beer Festival are launching an autumn counterpart this year. On December 10, more than 50 breweries from around the country and the world will converge on the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, PA for the first-ever Valley Forge Beer Fest.
Attendees looking to sample over 100 different beers can choose from an early (12:30–4 PM) or late (5:30–9 PM) session, where a $40 advance tickets gains access to the floor, unlimited samples and a commemorative tasting glass. Food will be available for purchase, to assure you can make it through the full 3½-hours of sipping suds (designated driver tickets are also available at $10 each).
In addition to stands showcasing a huge variety of malts, ales, lagers, stouts and more, several beer-centric seminars will take place throughout the day. Dr. Roger Barth will talk about the chemistry behind beer, author Gary Monterosso will debunk common beer myths and Yards Brewing Company brewmasters will delve into beer history with “Ales of the Revolution.”
Although it’s a bit out of the city, you can get there in under an hour on SEPTA's 125 bus (directions here). This is a no-miss event for fans of real beer, and space is limited, so a sell-out is likely. Go snag your tickets now.
