NextFab 2 Preview Party, April 19
Back at our February First Friday art show, we featured food and drink from South Street West’s Rex 1516. Those who stopped by our free party enjoyed smooth sangrias and spicy mac ‘n’ cheese, and got a glimpse at something even more fun — a 3D printer, knocking out the Rex logo in hummus on slices of baguette. That cool device was on-hand thanks to Evan Malone, co-owner of Rex (and Jet Wine Bar, with his wife Jill Weber), and president of artistic tech workshop NextFab Studio.
After just over two years of fostering creativity in applied art and design at 3711 Market Street in University City, the membership-driven “gym for innovators” is expanding to a larger location. On Thursday, April 19, they are throwing a preview party for the new flagship facility at 2025 Washington Street.
Snag a $25 ticket online (tickets will be $30 at the door), and then head to the new Graduate Hospital studio from 6–9 PM to enjoy complimentary food and drinks from Rex (including an open bar) while you meet the staff and tour the new digs. There will also be music and video entertainment, as well as exhibits and demos of NextFab art (check out the call for submissions for the show). This is one party that's guaranteed to be unique.
