Fairmount’s McCrossen’s Tavern has gotten a makeover of late. In a bid to become a destination bar – as opposed to a spot that simply happens to be on the way – the interior was completely redecorated, the beer list was elevated to include many craft and local brews and a new chef, Tod Wentz, overhauled the food options. Their 5–7 PM weekday happy hour is a good one, featuring one of their dozen drafts on special for $3, an app for $4, a wine for $5 and a cocktail for $6.

This Wednesday, September 7, the pub gets even more sophisticated. Stephanie Bourgeois will be hosting a special late-night wine happy hour, from 10 PM– 2 AM, where she’ll pour two vintages from the Bourgeois Family Selections portfolio for $5 each. Bourgeois Family Selections is a highly specialized importing company that focuses on handcrafted and family-produced French wines. The North Carolina-based company was founded by Jean-Phillipe Bourgeois, who is a sixth generation wine and spirits aficionado from France.

In the glass on Wednesday night will be a “fresh and lively” Cotes de Cascogne and a “lush but firm” Cotes du Ventoux. Stephanie will be on hand to discuss the flavors and finish of these choices, and the bar menu will be available though 11 PM. You can RSVP to the Facebook event here.
