If you were lucky enough to get a ticket, you'll know to head to Drink Philly World HQ on Thursday, September 15, at 7 PM, to learn everything one must know to survive in a beer-drink-beer world! It’s our first class for Skillshare, a very cool “community marketplace for offline classes,” where people who have something to share or teach schedule classes, and then you sign up for them.

We’ll be covering how to taste, review and store your beer; as well as teach you about ABV, terminology, and many other useful facts all surrounding one of the world’s most popular beverages.

Bell’s Beverage is devoting its free weekly tasting to Oktoberfest style German beers.
 

Saturday, September 17th

MGK Brew Blast on the Battleship NJ

What: Craft beer festival
Where: Battleship New Jersey, Delaware River (Camden)
When: 1–5 PM, Saturday, September 17
Price: $45

Take a tour of an authentic warship ($20 value) while sampling over 50 craft beers from Ommegang, Yards, Magic Hat and more.

Brews, Blues & BBQ

What: Craft beer festival
Where: The Electric Factory, 421 N. 7th St. (Eraserhood)
When: 1–5 PM or 6–10 PM, Saturday, September 17
Price: $45

A craft beer festival featuring BBQ and great blues music. Over 70 craft beers will be featured including brews from Dogfish Head, Ballast Point, Dock Street, Lagunitas, Victory, and Brooklyn.

Elmwood Zoo Oktoberfest

What: Oktoberfest celebration
Where: Elmwood Park Zoo, 1661 Harding Blvd., Norristown
When: 5:30-9 PM
Price: $45 in advance, $50 at gate, $25 for DD

Enjoy a festive night of delicious food from Outback Steakhouse of Conshohocken, Dave & Busters of Plymouth Meeting, Zone's Catering and ShopRite of East Norrition, complemented by sampling a wide variety of seasonal and craft beers.

The New Spain

What: Spanish wine special
Where: Tria Wine Room, 32nd & Walnut (University City)
When: 3 PM–12 AM, Saturday, September 17
Price: $5/glass

This Saturday, Tria Wine Room with be serving a variety of innovative wines from Spain. Available wines are a white grape Godello, Asturian Cider, a Rosat from Penedes and red Bobal. The special runs all day with each glass at an affordable $5.

Halfway to St. Patrick’s Day

What: Irish themed drink specials
Where: Kildare’s, Gay & Main, (Manayunk)
When: 9 PM–12 AM, Saturday, September 17
Price: Pay as you go

March is a long way off and Kildare’s is throwing a “Halfway to St. Patty’s Day” party. The drink specials start at 9 PM with $4 Guinness and $5 carbombs until 11 PM. $3 Hoegaardens will be available as well as a DJ starting at 10.


Sunday, September 18th

Autumn Pairings Class: Cheese, Beer & Homemade Preserves

What: Cheese 101 class with emphasis on pairings
Where: Wedge + Fig, Race & N. 3rd (Old City)
When: 4–6 PM, Saturday, September 17
Price: $65

This Sunday, Wedge + Fig is hosting a cheese 101 class focusing on six different Autumnal cheeses. Attendees will learn pairing basics with things like dark beer and chutney, as well as take home some great recipes. Tickets can be purchased online here.
