Drink This: Boozy Shakes at Frankford Hall
We’ve tried our share of “adult” milkshakes, and have often been disappointed. These wonderful-sounding treats tend to be overly thick, with brain-freeze-causing sips that leave us wondering whether any alcohol was added to the mix, and if so, why it was wasted in such a manner. The boozy frappes now offered at Frankford Hall restored our faith in the adult shake idea.
Three different options are available at Stephen Starr's Fishtown beer garden, and each is worth a try, especially because they come for just $6 each. Jack ‘n’ S’mores smoothes out chocolate ice cream with a good dash of Jack Daniels, which will pique your appetite so when you’re finished your last slurp, the garnish of torched marshmallow, Hershey’s chocolate and a graham cracker will be just the snack you’re craving.
Honey Graham pairs vanilla cream with a German honey liqueur, topped with fresh whipped cream and crumbles of more graham crackers, and for a slightly more refreshing treat, the Orange Creamsicle mixes Stoli Orange with the cream for a frozen sip that will bring you right back to your childhood playground.
Perhaps the best part about these shakes is you can drink them out in the open air garden at a picnic table, before or after a liter of good German-style brew, while playing ping-pong or Jenga. Philly summer living at its finest.
