Step Back in Time at Jazz Age on the Delaware, a 20s-Themed Lawn Party at Glen Foerd Mansion, Aug. 1

Step Back in Time at Jazz Age on the Delaware, a 20s-Themed Lawn Party at Glen Foerd Mansion, Aug. 1

On Saturday, August 1, don a flapper dress or a dapper suit and head back in time to the 1920s at Jazz Age on the Delaware, a fundraising party held at Glen Foerd Mansion, the last remaining Delaware River estate that’s open to the public. The all-day, family-friendly event starts at 11 AM and ends at 5 PM.

Throughout the day there will be live 1920’s music, dancing on a large outdoor dance floor, dance lessons, picnics, vintage-themed food and drink, vintage shopping, mansion tours, lawn games, antique automobiles, a pie baking contest, an outside cigar bar, and so much more.

Feel free to pack your own picnic basket, but not your own alcohol, and bring a blanket or chairs to sit on while enjoying your meal. Vintage-inspired cocktails, featuring Art in the Age spirits and Hendrick’s Gin, will be available for purchase as well as wine and beer. If you don’t want to pack your own picnic, you can buy food from Jamie Hollander Gourmet Foods and Catering at the party, or you can pre-order a picnic meal when you order tickets

Glen Foerd on the Delaware houses a museum and art gallery inside the mansion that dates back to 1850. Outside is a public park that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The historic landscapes and nature sites will be available for strolling during Jazz Age on the Delaware.

This historical site doesn’t receive any money or services from the government, so fundraisers are vital for it to continue to serve the public. In addition to raising funds for the preservation and programs of Glen Foerd, organizers of Jazz Age on the Delaware hope to raise awareness of this Philadelphia treasure so that more people visit and enjoy everything it has to offer throughout the year.

Throughout the summer, Glen Foerd hosts pay-what-you-wish outdoor concerts on the lawn where people are encouraged to bring a picnic or purchase food from a vendor on site. $10 mansion tours are open to the public on a regular basis. The estate grounds are free to the public and open everyday from dawn to dusk.

Tickets for Jazz Age on the Delaware are $45 for general admission ($55 day of the event), and children under 12 are free. VIP Preservation Society tickets are $125 and include river-view table seating in the Riverside Pavilion, exclusive Jazz Age-inspired menu, private bar, three specialty cocktails, separate admission entrance, dance lesson, and a mansion tour with Glen Foerd’s Executive Director. All tickets are available for purchase here.

Glen Foerd on the Delaware is located at 5001 Grant Ave. in the Northeast. For more information about the event or Glen Foerd, visit jazzageonthedelaware.com.
