Brews by the Bay Returns With Specialty Drafts and a Few Surprises, Aug. 29

by Erica Bauwens on Aug 27, 2015 in Event Listing

The Garden State Craft Brewers Guild, The Delaware Brewers Guild, and The Cape May-Lewes Ferry have teamed up yet again for an epic beer festival that’s so big you need two states to do it right. Brews by the Bay takes participants on a full day excursion across the Delaware Bay with plenty of beer to spare.

Starting at 11:30 AM, the festival takes guests from Lewes, Delaware to Cape May, New Jersey with the help of the Cape May-Lewes Ferry. After four hours of drinking and eating in Jersey, guests hop the ferry to Delaware, where the festivities continue from 4–8 PM.

Over 15 breweries from New Jersey take over the Cape May side, including Carton Brewing out of Atlantic Highlands--which will be tapping a special release of their small batch 077-07871 Mosaic-- and, of course, Cape May Brewing Company, which will be premiering Watermelon Wheat. Meanwhile, Mount Holly’s Spellbound Brewing will tap an exclusive firkin for guests. Other NJ breweries include:

Meanwhile, 10 breweries on the Delaware side await guests boarding the ferry, including Dogfish Head Brewery, where the king of craft beer, Sam Calagione, will be on-hand to pour from 4–5 PM. You can also find beers from 3rd Wave Brewing Co., Fordham & Dominion Brewing Company, Twin Lakes Brewing Co., and more.

Guests can buy tickets to both sides at a discount which includes the ferry ticket or just the side closer to home. Ferries run all day and live music is running on both sides of the bay, with Southern Cut covering the Jersey side and Chapel Street Junction playing in Delaware. There will also be food available in both states, along with yard games for all ages. Ticket information and more is available on the festival’s website, along with details on how to get to the ferry grounds.
