Fifth Annual Philly Bierfest Celebrates Rich History of Brewing German-Style Beers in Pennsylvania, Feb. 27

Fifth Annual Philly Bierfest Celebrates Rich History of Brewing German-Style Beers in Pennsylvania, Feb. 27

The Philly Bierfest is back for its fifth year at the German Society of Pennsylvania. This delicious and educational festival celebrates Pennsylvania’s great German brewing heritage, but you don’t have to be of German descent to enjoy the goods.

This year’s festival runs from 2–5:30 PM and features brews, chews, and tunes galore. Sample over three dozen local German-style beers and imported German brews across two beer halls. Look for beer from local breweries like Victory, Sly Fox, Free Will, St. Benjamin, Round Guys, and Yuengling. Sip on German brews like Ayinger, Warsteiner, Flensburger, Frϋh, Dinkelacker, and many more. You can find the full list of brewers at phillybierfest.com.

In addition to plenty of amazing beers, be sure to check out the Sam Adams Lager Learning Lounge where you’ll find interactive fun and games revolving around beer and brewing. Vote for the best German-style homebrew in the “Home Sweet Homebrau Taste-Off”, or grab a seat for the 4:30 PM Brewer’s Discussion Panel about “The German Connection: PA’s Lager-Friendly Terroir.”

While you’re not sipping or learning, enjoy German and American music by Polkadelphia and the Keystone Mountain Boys. The Philly Roller Girls will also be back again this year to pour beer, host arm-wrestling competitions, and the Berlin-style BEERlesque.

Tickets are available at multiple levels. General Admission tickets are $48, and include entrance to both beer halls and the learning lounge from 2–5:30 PM and a tasting glass. VIP packages are available for $65, which includes early admission (1 PM) and a Bierfest mug. VIP Plus packages are on sale for $78, and include everything mentioned in the VIP package in addition to a beer and cheese tasting seminar with Marnie Old and Di Bruno Bros. at 12 PM. Designated driver tickets are also available for $20 and children under 12 are free with complimentary Kinder-Care provided with an admission ticket. All tickets can be purchased online or by calling the German Society at 215-627-2332.
