The Flavors on the Avenue Street Festival Returns to East Passyunk, April 30
The East Passyunk Avenue Business Improvement District is hosting Flavors on the Avenue, a huge street festival featuring bites and booze from over two dozen of the Avenue’s best restaurants on Sunday, April 30 from 12 PM - 5 PM.
The festival will be located on Passyunk Avenue from Broad to Dickinson Streets, which will be blocked off to traffic. The event is completely free to attend with food and drink options pay-as-you-go. Bites will range from $3-$6 and drinks are in the $10 and under range. There are VIP tickets available for $50, which include a bite at every participating restaurant, two drinks from the drink tent, and free valet parking.
Expect festival-forward bites like sweet corn rangoons, BBQ pork pretzel bao buns and a special cocktail, the Thai Sunrise (tequila, lime, grapefruit and tamarind) await at Bing Bing Dim Sum. Plenty Café will feature a refreshing cocktail made with Rowhouse Gin, Lillet Blanc, lemon juice, earl grey tea and saffron to wash down their chorizo, smoked green tomatillo chimichurri and pickled red onion sandwich. Stoagie Joe’s will be serving their classic pizzas along with meatball parm sandwiches, and they’ll will have what they call a “Bip and a Bop” ($5 can of PBR or Rolling Rock paired with a shot of Jack Honey or Jim Beam, see: City Wide Special). Townsend will be offering Italian-style roast pork sandwiches topped with a homemade hot pepper relish. They’ll also offer two special, top-shelf cocktails for the festival the Bees Knees (gin, lemon and honey) and a Daquiri (Flor de Caña rum, lime and simple syrup). Not in the mood for a cocktail? Sip on one of Sate Kampar’s delicious Teh Tarik’s (tea blended with sweetened condensed milk) while noshing on a chicken satay skewer.
There will also be a drink tent selling $5 drafts from Yard’s Brewing and $7 wines by the glass from Southern Wines and Spirits. Wine selection includes Chole Rose Sonoma, Chole Chardonnay Vintage, Cupcake Sauvignon Blanc Special Selection and Concannon Cabernet Sauvignon.
Other participating restaurants include Birra, Brigantessa, Cantina los Caballitos, Chhaya, El Sarape, Fond, Izumi, Laurel, Le Virtu, Mamma Maria, Marra’s, Noir, Noord, Paradiso, POPE, P’unk Burger, Stargazy, Stateside, Tre Scalini, Vanilya Bakery and Will BYOB.
Besides food and drink, Flavors will feature live music, activities for kids, an art show from the Philadelphia Museum of Art 12 PM - 4 PMand awesome sidewalk sales from East Passyunk’s boutiques as well as pop up art and craft vendors.
