Where to Celebrate Cinco de Mayo 2018 in Philadelphia

We all know Philadelphians love their Margarita Mondays and their Taco Tuesdays, so it comes as no surprise we also love to an excuse to party on Cinco de Mayo, especially since it’s occurring on a Saturday this year, the same day at the Kentucky Derby.  Here’s where you can get your tequila and taco fix on May 5th in La Ciudad del Amor Fraternal, or the City of Brotherly Love!

Specials for the Mexican holiday include $2 Tecates, $5 margaritas, $3 chips and salsa and $5 nachos. (1901 Callowhill St.)

$8 pomegrante margs and blackberry paloma’s are waiting for you at this South Street bar. Food specials include refried bean tostadas, ranchero chicken tacos and queso fundido. (1508 South St.)

Come with friends to this East Passyunk bar that’ll be serving drinks made for sharing. Offerings include the 192 ounce Mexican mule (Hornitos, Owen’s Ginger, lime) for $65 and the 34 ounce Mega Bebida de Pomelo (Hornitos, Owen’s Grapefruit, lime). (1651 East Passyunk Ave.)

This University City spot is throwing a Mexican fiesta all day long starting at 10 AM. Stop by for $2 Tecates, $4 select drafts, $5 Felix margaritas, $8 Patron margaritas, $40 margarita towers, 2 for $5 tacos (chicken and pulled pork), $3 sweet plantains and $13 Cinco party nachos (serves four people). Visit El Rey for their 4th Annual Cinco de Mayo block party featuring face painting, crafts, and live music. Mexican fare such as tacos, guacamole, and nachos will be on hand to pair with Modelo, Corona, Tecate, and classic and mango margarita varieties. Don’t miss the mariachi band, which will perform live for half the day until a DJ takes over for the evening at 6 PM. (2000 Ranstead St.)
 
Saturday, May 5, 11 AM-2 AM
Enjoy specials like $5 Corona, Corona Light, Pacifico and Modelo all day at this Girard Avenue bar. Other offerings include $9 blood orange margaritas, $5 tequila sunrise Jell-O shots, $10 frozen pina coladas and $6 Bacardi Oakheart and Coke.  (100 E Girard Ave.)
 
Friday, May 4 through Saturday, May 5
Join this Old City spot for an entire weekend of Cinco fun! The fiesta begins on May 4 with a special happy hour from 4 PM-7 PM featuring $5 house margaritas and sangria, $5 Tecate and tequila, and half priced drafts. On Saturday the fun continues with a special menu featuring empanadas, wings, tacos, nachos and quesadillas. Live music starts at 10 PM. (207 Chestnut St.)
