3/20: Marathon Grill's Farmraiser
If you haven't been keeping up, Marathon Grill has purchased a 15,000 square foot vacant lot on 27th and Master St., where they've converted they've abandoned space into an urban farm. Not only will locals be able to visit the farm stand and purchase straight from them, but the food grown will be used to supply the Marathon Restaurants as well.
Marathon has promised that they will also offer programs that include "cooking demos, nutrition lectures, composting workshops, a gardening series and food preservation workshops." There will even be a 20-plot community farm for their neighbors, and they'll be offering a comunity gathering and workshop space.
What else can we say? If you're going to give back to the community, this is one amazing way to do it.
This coming Sunday, the Marathon Grill at 10th and Walnut will host a fundraiser for the farm, which they've cleverly dubbed a "Farmraiser." A $10 donation gets you in the door, with live music, food and drink specials throughout the evening. All proceeds will go toward Marathon Farm.
