Thursday, May 12th 

Philly Beer Geek Prelims 

What: Philly Beer Geek Preliminary Round
Where: Brauhaus Schmitz, 7th & South, (South Philly)
When: Thursday, May 12th, 7pm

What is Philly Beer Geek? Every year beer lovers across Philadelphia put their beer knowledge to the test to be crowned Philly Beer Geek during Philly Beer Week. This Thursday compete to represent Brauhaus Schmitz for the competition. Or just sit back, enjoy a brew, and learn a thing or two about beer!

Friday, May 13th

Friday the Firkinteenth

What: 24 select firkins of beer being served all day
Where: Grey Lodge, Frankford & Hawthorne, (North East Philly)
When: Friday, May 13th. All day!

Friday the 13th is known as “Friday the Firkinteenth” at Grey Lodge, where they break out about 20+ cask conditioned ales from craft breweries all over. This year, they’re looking at 24 firkins. There will be food served all day. No reservations necessary but with high traffic this event will be CASH only. No cards will be taken.

Saturday, May 14th

Breast Cancer Awareness at Kildare’s

 

What: Group effort to raise awareness for breast cancer
Where: Kildare’s Irish Pub, Gay & Main (Manayunk)
When: Saturday, May 14th, 7-10pm

A cover at the door is donated to “Living Beyond Breast Cancer” along with a portion of the nights proceeds. There will also be food and drink specials as well as a silent auction. 
 

Italian Market Festival

The Italian Market Festival is a two day Block Party on Saturday May 14th and Sunday the 15th. The Festival features food, live music and much more in celebration of Philadelphia’s Italian heritage.

Festivities are featured on South 9th St. from Fitzwater to Federal from 10am-5pm. South Philly Bar & Grill will be running specials both days until 2am. Specials include: $4 Peroni’s, $4 Sambuca shots, $4 Limoni Di Sicilia shots, $3 Anisette shots, $5 Sangria’s, Italian music, food and giveaways.

Sunday, May 15th 
 

Savage Sixtel Sunday at Kite and Key 

Where: Kite & Key, 19th & Callowhill, (Art Museum/Fairmount)
What: Tapping at least eight rare sixtels of beer
When: Sunday, May 15th, 7pm

Kite & Key plays to tap a few sixtels of rare brew this Sunday. Amongst previously tapped is the ever elusive Pliney the Younger. Beer listing will be posted shortly.
