Thursday, December 22

A Book Singing

What: Bar caroling with beer writer Lew Bryson
Where: Grey Lodge Pub, Frankford & Hawthorne (NE Philly)
When: 7:30–9 PM, Thursday, December 22
Price: PAYG

Beer writer and advocate for the abolition of the PLCB over at Why the PLCB Should be Abolished, Lew Bryson, will be in house making merry and singing Christmas carols. There will be plenty of Christmas beers on tap and all the singing you can handle.


Friday, December 23

Christmas with Stone Brewing


What: Christmas Eve-Eve party with Stone Brewing Co.
Where: Resurrection Ale House, Grays Ferry Ave & Catherine (Graduate Hospital)
When: All day, Friday, December 23
Price: PAYG

Resurrection Ale House is tapping casks of Stone Brewing Co. creations all day long. Selections include: Levitation (4.4% ABV), IPA (6.9%), Smoked Porter (5.9%), Double Bastard (10.5%, American Strong Ale), Anniversary Ale (10.8% Imperial Black IPA), Vertical Epic 11 (9.4% Belgian Strong Ale) and Imperial Russian Stout (10.5%).


Saturday, December 24

13th Annual “To Life” party

What: Christmas Eve party and fundraiser
Where: Mission Grill (15th & Locust) and Public House (18th & Arch)
When: 8 PM–2 AM, Saturday, December 24
Price: $25 general admission, $75 for dual admission to both venues

Mission Grill and Public House are throwing their 13th annual Christmas Eve party with partial proceeds, all raffles, and $1 from Lemonade drinks,  going to benefit Alex’s Lemonade Stand, a foundation raising money for childhood cancer.

Drink specials are available from 8–10 PM. General admission gets you in the doors at either Mission Grill or Public House ($75 for both) with live music, drink specials and dozens of giveaways.

Over 700 people were in attendance last year and it’s suggested you purchase tickets ahead of time.


Sunday, December 25

There are actually quite a few bars that will be open on Christmas Day, some with limited menus, some with holiday drink specials. Check out our listing here.
