All Rye-ghty: Yards to Kick Off 2014 with a New Winter Seasonal Brew
Here’s good reason to go back and revise your New Year’s resolutions with a pledge to drink more beer in 2014. Come January 2, Yards Brewing Co. will roll out barrels of a new winter seasonal that’s surely going to be hard to resist. It’s called Yards Rye, and if the name doesn’t already give it away, it’s an IPA brewed with rye malt.
While the rye gives the amber-colored sessionable ale — ABV is 6.2% — a subtle spiciness, Bravo and Nugget hops in the bittering process, whole flower Chinook in the hop back, and a combination of Centennial, Citra, Simcoe, and Columbus used to dry hop it give the brew an intense citrus and pine quality.
Kegs and bottles will be available where ever Yards beers are sold in Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey, Northern Virginia and Delaware in the first week of the New Year. But we have a sneaking suspicion it will pop up sooner at the brewery’s tasting room and at select locations in Philly.
