PLCB Debuts Rebranded Fine Wine & Good Spirits Stores

Tasting bar included!

What is a Friday afternoon without a trip to the liquor store for your share of boozy contributions to sling to your weekend party? Or whatever night of the week, who would deny the benefits of stocking up on an extra bottle to assist you through the evenings ahead? However, as if we needed to remind you — booze shopping in Pennsylvania is something of a hassle. Whether it’s the long lines or the cramped setups, we’re in need of a recess from the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board’s (PLCB) antiquated shop designs.

The PLCB has heard our pleas. As part of its ongoing efforts to reform state liquor stores, the agency has re-launched approximately 18 stores throughout the commonwealth that now flaunt spacious, swanky interiors. The most recent shop opened on Thursday, September 6 in the Bradford Plaza shopping center of West Chester. The Bradford Plaza location, at 692 Downingtown Pike, is one of 11 rebranded Fine Wine & Good Spirits stores in the Philadelphia region, and features an extensive Chairman’s Selection wine collection.

Here’s an eye-opener: Visiting the PLCB’s revamped liquor stores is actually a pleasant experience. It’s apparent that part of the redesign strives to eliminate the crowding that created bottled up shopping experiences. End-of-aisle displays and cluttered disorganization are no more, as simplicity is key this new design scheme. Floor-to-ceiling dark maple cabinets line the perimeter of the space, and are crowned with illuminated signs that clearly identify the contents within. Easily distinguishable sections are also color-coordinated, in warm tones of greens and maroons.

Another selling point? The extensive new bar, where sample tastes and customer assistance are available. The stylish, broad box is situated center-store as a new focal point for consumers to learn about products and find recommendations. It also stocks educational handouts, including food pairing and party planning guides, as well as a wine vintage chart.

The PLCB can also pat itself on the back for being environmentally responsible when giving its stores a facelift, as it has made use of state-of-the-art LEDs and energy-efficient compact fluorescent lighting. Its eco-friendly initiative won’t stop any time soon; the PLCB intends to follow through on rebranding the remaining statewide stores as their leases come up.

Want to spice up your typical liquor shopping experience and see what all the buzz is about? Other local rebranded stores include Fine Wine & Good Spirits at 2nd and Girard; 1940 Columbus Blvd.; 6542 J Logan Square Shopping Center, New Hope; 821 West Lancaster Ave., Wayne; and 17 Leopard Rd., Paoli.
