This Weekend: Crawl With Zombies, Brunch With Stoners and Get Your Skull Split
Forget about Peter Cottontail and baskets stuffed full of fattening and tooth-decaying treats this weekend. There are plenty of bigger and better things on tap for the city’s drinking class.

Memphis Taproom 6th Anniversary Bash and Beer Garden Grand Reopening
Memphis Taproom
Noon
Owners Brendan Hartranft and Leigh Maida and the rest of the crew at Memphis Taproom are celebrating their Kensington bar and restaurant’s sixth anniversary and simultaneously throwing a party to welcome the arrival of outdoor drinking season with the grand opening of its seasonal beer garden on Saturday, beginning at noon. On tap for the festivities is UNITY, a Kölsch-style beer brewed specifically for the event using Hersbrucker Hops at Victory Brewing Co. With the beers, great weather and good times, there will be hot dogs from the Taproom’s stationary food truck, plus t-shirts, good vibes and more.
Farm Fest at the Oval
11 AM - 9 PM
Saturday also sees the return of The Oval on Benjamin Franklin Parkway, where the 2014 Farm Fest will wrap its three-day run. The fest is open from 11 AM - 9 PM, and will have Victory Brewing Company’s mobile brewpub dispensing awesome beers; food trucks, including Street Food Philly, Reuben on Rye, Farm Truck, Little Baby’s Ice Cream and Calling Card Confections from the Greensgrow Commissary serving up tasty grub; and live entertainment.
Split Thy Skull
Tattooed Mom
1 - 6 PM
The city’s longest running (19 years!) celebration of high ABV barleywines, the aptly titled Split Thy Skull, returns to Tattooed Moms from 1 - 6 PM. The boozy bash will feature more than a dozen different barleywines from breweries both near and far. It’s all pay as you go, and the bar recommends that you leave your car keys at home. If need be, they will call you a cab.
Saisonale
Alla Spina
4:30 PM - 2 AM
The good folks at Marc Vetri’s Italian-inspired gastropub on North Broad Street are welcoming spring with Belgian-style farmhouse ales and saisons on 10 taps. The celebration continues all weekend, and beers pouring include Stillwater Cellar Door, Ommegang Glimmerglass, Saison Dupont, Brooklyn Sorachi Ace, Lost Abbey Carnevale and more.

9th Annual Zombie Crawl
South Street
8 PM
For the ninth consecutive year, the dead will rise from their graves and descend on South Street for an evening of enjoying beers, not brains. The whole mess kicks off at TLA where zombie-crawlers can get their walking-dead look together with the help of professional makeup artists on hand, and get their get-ups right at the Philly Zombie Emporium that will be conducting business inside. From there, creepy crawlers will stroll the streets, hopping from bar to bar. Participating bars include Tattooed Mom, Manny Browns, Lickety Split, Copabanana and The Legendary Dobbs. The cost is $5 per zombie.
4/20 Stoner Brunch
Pub on Passyunk East
High Noon - 4:20 PM
Not only is Sunday Easter, it’s the high holiday known as 4/20. And in honor of it, the P.O.P.E. is serving up a special stoner themed brunch with heady and hoppy beers, cool munchies from the kitchen and Cheech & Chong movies on the TVs. The good times kick off at high noon and go until, you guessed it, 4:20 PM.
