Nine New Places We're Still Excited to Check Out This Fall |
Cook and Shaker: After living in the Kensington/Fishtown area for more than a decade, local restaurant industry veteran Laura Viegas recently opened Cook and Shaker in her own backyard. Cook and Shaker serves fresh, local fare alongside craft beers and artisanal cocktails. The 55-seat space features an expansive bar made of reclaimed wood and exposed brick walls. The frequently changing menu features dishes made from local, seasonal ingredients sourced from local farms, such as Greensgrow and Green Meadow. Beverage options will also be locally and seasonally focused, with eight taps featuring at least one cider and beers from area breweries. A list of 6 to 8 cocktails, as well as mocktails — all prepared using fresh juices, squeezed in-house, rather than with syrups or frozen purees — round out the drinkable offerings.
