Happy Hour Crawl: Fishtown |
Barcade (1114 Frankford Ave; 215-634-4400; Happy Hour 4-7 PM Mon.-Fri.)
Hook down south once you reach Frankford Ave and it’ll be hard to miss Barcade. The nostalgic atmosphere begins with the Barcade logo printed on old exposed brick on the building’s exterior. It continues once you step inside and are greeted with 30 vintage arcade games. The variety of video games — from Dig Dug to Donkey Kong — is only matched by the draft selection. Barcade boasts 25 craft beers on tap, including a nitro and a cask. Though the exterior doesn’t look all that impressive, the interior is a whole other story. The high ceilings and exposed brick and ventilation allude to the history that the Fishtown region has been through. The bar is a long “L” shape of beautiful hardwood, and the game room in the back maintains this spacious feel despite how many arcade games there are. Long high-top tables serve as the home for coats, drinks, and the losers. Begin the crawl here to get your competitive juices flowing. Games are a motif in this area, and you want to be at the top of your’s when we head back up Frankford to Johnny Brenda’s.
