Booze in Review, 9/10-9/16
Though we started off the week with summery temps, the chill in the air proves fall is actually near, and its time to get back to work. Back to the tough job of attending Oktoberfests, eating sausages and drinking pumpkin ales, that is. Here’s what we saw go down at Drink Philly this week.

Beer Review: Hoptimus Prime from Ruckus Brewing Co. – Mike has the background deets on this signature brew from the revamped, former Legacy Brewing Co.
Philadelphia Bar & Restaurant’s $1 Birthday Celebration – the Old City gastropub turned one year old this week, and the’re celebrating with a series of killer $1 specials
‘Tis the Season (for Oktoberfest Beers) – Chase rounds up 8 of the best seasonal Marzens now popping up in bars & stores
$1 Million Lottery Ticket Sold at Phila. Brewing Co.? – Newsworks has a winning ticket sold at the production brewery, but it actually was sold at Philly Beer Co., a package store
Good Ad/Bad Ad – two alcohol marketing campaigns go head-to-head, and you get to vote on which is cool and which sucks
Oktoberfest 2011 – 15 fun beer festivals and events to attend over the next month or so
What Should Philadelphia’s Signature Cocktail Be? – Philadelphia Magazine and Foobooz are setting out to name the true Philly drink
Yo-ho-ho! Free Rum on Talk Like a Pirate Day – Rum Bar is giving away rum samples and more to folks who show up dressing and talking like a buccaneer on Monday, September 19
Weekend Picks, 9/15-9/18 – what to do this weekend (hint: three beerfests to choose from on Saturday, September 17)
Welcome the La Chouffe Gnome to Its New Home – the POPE is now one of only three locations in the U.S. to host this special tap tower
Ranstead Room Launches Happy Hour - Chris hits up this Stephen Starr speakeasy, and likes what he finds
3 New Cocktail Menus for September – Farmers’ Cabinet has a special Restaurant Week slate of drinks, and both Franklin Mortgage and Isabella’s intro’d new offerings
Yuengling Expands to Ohio; Produces First Oktoberfest – the Pottsville, PA-based brewery is expanding their reach and repertoire
Cheap Date: Kegs & Eggs at Distrito – on the inexpensive tip: beer and brunch at this Jose Garces cantina
Sausagefest at South Philly Tap Room, September 18 – Scott Schroeder and his meat minions are throwing a pig party with Oktoberfest beers this Sunday
